Gold Coast Marine Aquaculture (GCMA) is one of the largest Black Tiger Prawn farming companies in Australia with an annual production capacity of ˜ 500-700 Tonnes.
The original farm was founded on sugarcane land at the mouth of the Logan River, South East Queensland by Noel Herbst in 1986; it remains a family owned business today.
GCMA is currently looking for a competent and qualified Quality Assurance Manager to join our team in Woongoolba, QLD.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Overseeing quality control processes in hatchery, aquaculture, and processing plant operations.
* Ensuring strict compliance with industry regulations, including food safety and environmental standards.
* Identifying areas for process improvement to enhance efficiency and product quality.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, facilitate continuous improvement, and maintain the highest quality standards in the aquaculture industry.
* Driving the BAP, GMP, SQF & Supplier standards across the business.
* Managing all food safety certification programs and continuous improvement.
* Serving as the primary contact for quality issues with key customers.
* Ensuring company compliance with all relevant quality, food safety, and legislative requirements.
* Accountability for daily onsite quality control, documentation, and processes.
* Conducting internal audits and participating in third-party accreditation audits.
* Delivering staff training on food safety and quality processing.
* Participating in HACCP reviews and implementing changes to the program.
* Analyzing and recommending improvements to work procedures.
* Varied and interesting daily duties as directed by the Processing Manager or Operations
Requirements:
* Master’s degree in Fisheries/Aquaculture or a related field.
* Extensive hands-on experience in seafood processing, aquaculture, and quality control.
* Proven track record of implementing process improvements and ensuring product quality.
* Excellent project management and team collaboration skills.
* Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to all levels within the organization.
* Positive team-based attitude.
Salary range: $65,000 - $80,000 per year
