Modcast is a fast growing precast concrete manufacturer based in North Wangaratta, Victoria. We custom manufacture a range of precast concrete products for infrastructure and building projects across Australia.
As a supplier to critical infrastructure projects, we take quality assurance seriously.
To assure our clients of excellent quality, we seeking a Quality Control Officer / Engineer to assist in maintaining our quality systems.
The Role
In this role, you will take active responsibility for product quality and ‘own’ the completions stage of our production process with day to day tasks including:
- Develop quality plans and documentation for customer projects.
- Pre-pour inspections of precast elements prior to pouring.
- Carryout quality checks on completed reinforcing cages including ensuring correct material usage and dimensions.
- Inspect new and modified precast moulds prior to first castings for dimensional accuracy.
- Carrying out concrete tests including slump and cylinders, and maintain appropriate records.
- Post-pour inspections of finished elements including dimensional and visual defect checks.
- Maintain quality documentation systems with thorough attention to detail.
- Coordinate the efficient use of labour resources assigned to patching and repair work.
- Ensure patching and repair processes follow correct procedures.
- Carryout additional product testing as required by clients including concrete cover and crush tests.
- Undertake and coordinate root cause analysis of reoccurring quality issues with team leaders and management.
- Coordinate client and 3rd party quality inspections.
- Assist in training line workers on quality standards.
- Prepare reports on quality outcomes and present to key stakeholders.
- Assist with development and implementation of processes to improve quality and consistency.
This is a busy, full time roll requiring attendance on site from 6:00 am, Monday to Friday. The majority of the work will be conducted outside, with some factory and office time required each day.
Skills & Experience
While training can be provided for a keen learner, experience in the following areas would be highly beneficial:
- Proven experience in Precast Concrete manufacturing or FRP.
- Prior experience in Quality Control / assurance roles.
- Engineering back ground and knowledge of concrete construction.
- Technical aptitude and ability to read drawings.
- High computer and written communication literacy.
- Heavy manufacturing experience.
