Quality Officer

Luerssen Australia has launched both NUSHIPs Arafura and Eyre, with NUSHIP Arafura getting ready for sea trials. 

We are looking for the best and brightest minds to join us as we work together to deliver the Arafura Class Offshore Patrol Vessels to the Royal Australian Navy.          

The Role

This role will conduct quality assurance and control activities and support the implementation of Quality plans within the SEA1180 Program.

As part of continual improvement this role shall apply Six Sigma methodologies and problem-solving techniques to identify opportunities for improvement, lead subsequent initiatives and deliver tangible results. This role also focuses on improving both operational and quality performance in a sustainable, long-term manner across Luerssen Australia’s operations.

This role will be required to co-ordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure consistency of approach and successful delivery of the SEA1180 Program.

Responsibilities

• Ensure SEA1180 Program products meet quality requirements and standards
• Identify and raise Non-Conformances on products and manage remediation of deliverables to closure
• Planning, coordinating, and conducting internal and external audits
• Monitoring and implementing quality assurance and control processes to improve governance compliance and effectiveness
• Identify, develop, and implement improvement opportunities. 
• Ensure all activities undertaken and/or reviewed comply with all relevant legal/regulatory requirements including the (Relevant Industry Acts) and Regulations and Luerssen Australia internal policies and procedures.
• Ensure that effective working relationships are built and maintained with other departments and stakeholders 
• Promote strong culture of customer focus and stakeholder engagement.
• Practice and promote two-way communication within the Quality team
• Engage in open, honest and timely communication across the business focussing on two- way communication to better achieve business goals.
• Implement agreed actions to minimise risks
• Describe and raise residual risks not previously identified.

Requirements

• One or more of the following relevant qualifications and/ or an equivalent level of relevant work experience in the field:
• Structure and or Weld Inspection
• Paint Inspection
• Pressure Vessel Inspection
• Auditor qualification
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or above
• Proven experience within ISO 9001 Quality Management
• Quality assurance or business and process analysis experience
• Experiences in quality management of sub-contractors and suppliers in ship building (supplier evaluation, and monitoring)
• Demonstrated experience in liaising with procurement and contract management
• Experience in working in large and complex Acquisition programs
• Experience in managing multiple activities and priorities
• Experience in report writing
• Statistical Process Control
• Microsoft Office Suite – intermediate to advanced skills
