About the Position
An opportunity exists for a full-time Quality, Safety and Training Officer to join our team based at Richlands. As a Quality, Safety and Training Officer you will be responsible for maintaining and updating the Quality, Safety and Training systems to ensure compliance with NATA accreditation, training requirements and HSE systems.
In this role you will have functional working relationships with the Managers, Consultants, Support Staff and Laboratory Staff.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Operations Manager, responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain, update and ensure compliance to the quality system ISO 9001 and NATA ISO 17025 Accreditation.
- Maintain, update and ensure compliance with training system requirements for the analytical laboratory.
- Induction of new employees into the business.
- Maintain and ensure site compliance to ALS HSE systems.
- Working in conjunction with Laboratory Management to promote and maintain the ALS culture of “Safety First”.
- Educating and maintaining staff awareness on appropriate safety issues.
- Ensuring compliance to relevant legislation and company policies.
- Investigating, reporting and submitting recommendations for consideration on work-place incidents to the respective Manager and Management.
- A tertiary qualification in science is preferred but not essential.
- Demonstrated laboratory experience.
- Knowledge of ISO 17025 and NATA general requirements for accreditation.
- A certificate IV in training and assessing would be an advantage.
- A certificate IV in OH&S (preferable) or suitable experience.
- Has a high-level understanding of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS.
- Has and intermediate level of understanding of excel applications, spreadsheets and macros.
- Good Organisation and Communication Skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Good organisational & time management skills and flexibility in daily routines.
- Previous experience in coal analytical or preparation laboratory environments including exposure to a wide range of coal tests and testing programs would be seen as an advantage.
