SUMMARY
We are looking for a person who can maximise the sales and distribution channels of all Kamado Joe & Masterbuilt products within our independent trade specialists, online, regional, national chain partners in the VIC/SA/WA/TAS region. The position has huge scope for business development growth and personal career progression within the company.
The position requires exceptional interpersonal skills, strong written and oral communication and planning skills with the ability to function effectively with minimal direction whilst driving new product launches, category sales initiatives, marketing opportunities to successful & timely completion.
JOB SPECIFICATION
- The role is varied with a combination of territory management, merchandising, national account management & budgeting.
- The role is autonomous, but you will be very much a part of a very inclusive dynamic sales team working to achieve budgeted targets and customer satisfaction.
- You will be expected to find new business, new sales channels, sponsorship/branding opportunities and discover some true charcoal grilling brand ambassadors to help develop our existing strategic partners sales and business opportunities to growth.

Main Duties
Independent Trade Specialists
- Achieve sales revenue and gross profit margin targets by category as agreed with management.
- Achieve agreed distribution targets on appropriate product category targets.
- To effectively journey plan and manage call rates on own territory to 3-4 per day average.
- Face to face appointments on a set call cycle, with regular telephone and zoom/teams catch-ups for Regional Accounts if not within cycle.
- Maintain and develop the business with all existing accounts.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Maintain customer records, contacts, new applications, sales turnover details and call reports within company reporting systems and files.
- Management of allocated marketing co-op budget to drive sales.
- Attendance at business meetings, AU/INTERNATIONAL Trade Shows.
- Management of warranty and product returns within region.
- Organisation of Kamado Joe | Masterbuilt training and demonstrations in the region.
- Order collation, communication to head office team and follow up.
National/Chain/Franchisee
- Make appointments with department managers in each national/chain/franchisee partner as agreed in the call cycle.
- Complete sales actions as detailed in the merchandising pack and report back findings and future plans.
- Ensure forward orders inline with marketing initiatives and new product launches & forecasts are completed and in the pipeline.
- Ensure Kamado Joe | Masterbuilt displays and strategy to sales is implemented during national store visits and guidelines adhered to be retail partners.
Each call will involve one or more of the following tasks:
- New product presentation and AU marketing initiatives to drive sales
- Business review – Category, YOY, YTD, VS BUDGET
- Stock counting – sales order planning
- Order collating, sending, follow up with customer service
- Merchandising
- Promotional offers presenting & bespoke creation for partner sales
- Staff Training
- Grilling demonstrations
- Product returns/problems
Reporting
- Report weekly by phone/email to GM
- Complete a weekly report sheet and forward to your GM and Customer Service Manager at the end of every week
- Weekly itinerary to be filled and sent to GM and Customer Service Manager at the end of every week
- Report to sales meetings/briefings on aspects of the job, e.g sales, marketshare, product quality, competitor activity, account profitability, general news – as directed
Other
- Carry out from time to time and as directed, any other duties as required in addition to the above that will be both reasonable and within your capabilities.
- Ensure at all times, you take care of your health and safety and that of others by complying with health and safety obligations, particularly by reporting promptly any defects, risks or potential hazards.
- Work from home or Middleby AU Offices in either Brisbane or Sydney.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Experience
Essential: At least 2 years proven sales industry experience in a business to business homewares, lifestyle, outdoor living, or barbeque category with an account, or key account management capacity.
Desirable: A minimum of 3 years sales experience within a business to business role within the outdoor living industry or a minimum of 3 years as a lifestyle, barbeque/ grilling store manager.
An understanding of retail mass merchant, franchisee models, dealing with major online channels will be a major advantage.
Education/Qualification
Essential: English and Maths to HSC, VCE or equivalent
Desirable: Degree or professional qualification
