Position Profile:
The position is suitable for an enthusiastic applicant interested in improving their orthopaedic skills under direct supervision. It is also useful step for those interested in applying for a position in the Orthopaedic Training Program. The successful applicants will gain a minimum of 12 months quality orthopaedic experience working alongside 2 Orthopaedic service registrars and 2 local Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeons as well as rotating FIFO weekend surgeons.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the clinical care of patients under consultant supervision and will be expected to:
- Attend to patients in order of clinical urgency.
- Take relevant and performing relevant examinations of new admissions; arranging appropriate investigations and initiating an appropriate treatment plan. Asking for advice/help as needed.
- Manage inpatients according to acceptable clinical standards under supervision of consultants.
- Attend fracture and elective clinics.
- Assist in theatre and perform cases under supervision.
- Collaborate with other Medical, Nursing staff and multidisciplinary team members to facilitate patient care.
- Liaise with family members, general practitioners, and/or community services concerning patient management.
Applicants must be eligible for registration with APHRA and must have previous Orthopaedic experience at RMO level or above.
