Reporting to the Safety & Recovery Manager, the WHS Coordinator will drive safety administration processes across the organisation.
The WHS Coordinator is responsible for ensuring Safety best practice is operationalised. This role will provide critical support across a variety of WHS and Wellbeing projects, initiatives, and core functions enabling the WHS function to achieve its strategic outcomes. This is a hands-on position that it requires active participation in operational activities and close interaction with employees to maintain a safe workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct risk assessments to minimize site risk (plant, process and chemical)
- Develop safe work procedures to ensure compliance and best practice
- Update and maintain all WHSW registers
- Coordinating WHSW legal compliance training
- Administration & maintenance of the Safety Management System (Beakon)
- Monitor and drive required outcomes through the Beakon safety system
- Assist with Incident and Injury Investigations
- Assist the WHS Advisor in conducting safety inductions and on-boarding processes
- Monitor and coordinate internal audit schedule
- Support the Safety and Recovery Manager in developing safety leadership across the organisation
- Assist the Work, Health and Safety department with implementation of WHSW initiatives and strategies to address key organisational risks and reduce workplace injuries
- Assist the Safety & Recovery Manager with maintaining AS/NZS45001 accreditation
- Assist with Procedural Compliance Audits monthly or when required
What you'll need to succeed:
The successful candidate will have practical experience in work health and safety (WHS), either through previous similar roles or by applying WHS principles in a hands-on manner. Although formal qualifications are beneficial, the key factor is a genuine eagerness to learn and contribute to the team.
- 1-2 years’ experience in a WHS support function role
- Certificate IV in WHS (desirable)
- Proficiency within Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships
- High attention to detail and time management
- A basic understanding of WHS legislation
