The OpportunityA rewarding role for an accomplished Senior Manager with extensive expertise in safety, compliance, and risk management. Reporting to Human Resources, Safety and Culture Manager you will play a pivotal role in achieving strategic goals through the implementation of robust processes and policies to ensure industry standards are met.
Adept communication skills and people management will be critical to provide leadership to your reporting lines, direction to the broader business, and influence to internal and external stakeholders.
Ideally the successful candidate will be based from our Head Office in Tuncurry, however we are open to negotiating with suitable applicants.
Duties and responsibilities include:- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive Safety and Compliance systems and processes that align with industry best practice and legal requirements.
- Lead safety training, awareness campaigns, and initiatives to foster a culture of Safety and environmental accountability.
- Monitor and report on safety performance, compliance, and effectiveness of measures in practice.
- Collaborate with Senior and Site Managers to ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations across all locations.
- Coordinate regular audits to identify potential hazards and areas of improvement.
- Investigate/ coordinate the investigation of all incidents, accidents, and near misses and develop strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Establish and maintain key internal and external relationships.
- Stay updated on changes in Safety and environmental laws and regulations.
- Review emergency response plans.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Safety and Compliance staff.
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in Safety and Compliance within waste management or related industry.
- Sound knowledge of federal, state, and local Safety and Compliance regulations.
- Adept understanding and experience in Workers Compensation and Return to Work programs.
- Problem solving and analytical ability to identify and address Safety and Compliance challenges.
- Proficiency in data analysis and report generation.
- Ability to travel as required.
