Your Employer
For over a century, our client has built a distinguished reputation as a progressive and responsible agribusiness leader in Australia. Employing over 180 staff across nine stations spanning 3.2 million hectares in QLD, NT & WA, they manage a diverse portfolio of 300,000 cattle, alongside diversified crops and goats, all with a firm commitment to ESG principles.
From cultivating a sustainable future through responsible farming practices to fostering the growth of their people and the communities they operate in; our client is dedicated to adding lasting value. Due to an internal promotion, they seek a passionate Safety & Welfare Business Partner to join their team.
Your Role
This safety role isn't your run-of-the-mill position. It offers diversity, travel opportunities and invaluable exposure to all facets of the livestock industry and station life, setting you up to move onto other opportunities within the business down the track.
You will be working closely with the People & Safety team, who will assist you in making a tangible impact on workplace safety and fostering a positive safety culture. You'll travel across stations in the NT, WA and QLD, ensuring everything aligns with the Safety & Welfare Strategy. Monitoring WHS processes, conducting inspections/audits, and spearheading continuous improvement initiatives are just some of the ways you'll contribute to building a safer, happier work environment for everyone.
In addition to the above your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Assisting in the delivery of the 2023-2027 Safety & Welfare Strategy
- Conduct regular site visits, monitoring WHS processes and compliance with policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Perform station inspections and audits, identifying potential hazards, areas for improvement, and documenting findings in detailed reports.
- Assist in facilitating audits and investigations, ensuring timely follow-up on corrective actions.
- Ensuring thorough identification, investigation, and learning from all incidents, hazards, and near misses.
- Compile and analyse WHS data to prepare comprehensive reports.
- Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives, driving positive safety outcomes.
Our ideal candidate will be motivated and passionate about agriculture or livestock, with exposure to living or working regionally. We are also open to individuals who are looking to transition into a safety focused role, as long as you have exposure to working in isolated environments or within the ag industry.
To thrive in this role, you should possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, be flexible, deadline-driven, and exhibit a proactive, tenacious attitude. Your ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders will be crucial.
To be considered for the role, it is important that you can address the following:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a relevant industry role
- Exposure to stations (preferred)
- Horse-riding ability
- Agriculture exposure (desired, not essential)
- Relevant WHS qualifications (Cert IV or higher OR a vocational background in WHS with a willingness to work towards a qualification, not essential)
- Great attention to detail
- Flexibility to travel extensively
Working with a leading agribusiness, you will be well compensated for your effort and contribution to the business. Benefits include:
- Additional training & certification opportunities
- Career progression
- Exposure to various facets of the business
- Collaborative team environment
