The purpose of this role is to:
- produce all cost estimates required to support the sales process and manage construction costs, and to ensure ongoing supplier relationship development is fostered and maintained by proven analytical, equitable and ongoing supplier contract, performance and price negotiations.
- Provide procurement support in accordance with the National Purchasing Manager
- Liaise with drafts people, engineers, builders, contractors, suppliers and project managers.
- Study architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
- Prepare a ‘Bill of Quantities’ which lists the individual components required for the project and related actions.
- Check on changes of design to assess the effects on cost.
- Issue purchase orders and or contracts for the respective functions and calculate the company’s required margin in accordance with company policy.
- Assist project managers with new design and cost analysis.
- Analyse plans and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates.
- Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to tenders as the project develops.
- Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project.
Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures.
- A minimum of Two years’ experience in the Building industry with a good construction background.
- Analytical & logical.
- Ability to ready & understand drawings & engineering.
- Good knowledge of building terminology.
- Able to concentrate for long periods.
- Good verbal & written communication skills.
- Accurate with figure work.
- Work as part of a team.
- Aptitude for working with computers.
