BSD Robotics is a manufacturer of products for international life science laboratories. We supply products to high profile laboratories that demand excellence in product design, high build quality and operational reliability.
A position is vacant within our R&D department that involves research and experimentation to enable innovations for new product designs. This is a new position within the Company and the successful candidate will be based in our Brendale facility to augment our team of skilled R&D team comprised of software, electronics, industrial and mechanical designers.
Duties
- Perform research into applicable usage conditions, and gain knowledge in relation to materials, methods and physical and environmental factors.
- Participate in research projects with a leading role to plan and conduct experiments and perform data analysis and interpretation.
- Prepare conclusive reports and presentations of findings to the R&D team.
- Work with technical staff to arrange and build laboratory resources and test rigs for experimental work.
Skills, Experience and Background
We are looking for a candidate with experience in the physical sciences and a working knowledge of electrical, optical, thermal, mechanical, chemical, environmental and materials principles. The candidate must have skills and abilities to plan and conduct experiments according to the scientific method and be able to apply knowledge to understanding and interpreting experimental outcomes for evidence-based decision making.
Preference will be given to applicants with one or more of the following:
- Formal qualifications in Physics, Chemistry or related branches of science.
- Ability to use and operate laboratory instruments and test gear.
- Prior experience in a similar or related role.
- Ability to demonstrate sound knowledge in data analysis and application of mathematical methods and software.
- Experience and skills in wet lab chemistry methods.
