What you'll be doing
The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is ‘exceptional care, healthier lives’. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.
You'll be working at the Kirketon Road Centre, which provides free and confidential healthcare for people facing obstacles to getting the health care they need. This includes people who inject drugs, sex workers, homeless people, young people at risk, and anyone needing urgent sexual health or HIV/Hepatitis care.
Your main role will be to support Aboriginal people who access our clinics and outreach services. You'll also provide cultural insight and guidance within KRC.
Additionally, you'll work with KRC clinical and health promotion staff to develop programs to protect the health of Aboriginal people at risk of blood borne viruses and sexually transmitted infections.
The Kirketon Road Centre is part of the SESLHD Sexual Health and Blood Borne Virus Services, so you might collaborate with those teams when needed.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

- A minimum of Certificate III in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or equivalent; and experience in health, education or social services in the government or non-government sector.

- Experience in community development and building partnerships.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with a flexible, eclectic and non-judgmental approach working within a harm reduction framework.
- High level organisational skills, including a capacity to prioritise competing interests and meet tight deadlines and demonstrated high level written and oral communications skills.
- Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
- Current NSW driver's licence.
