What you'll do
Due to an internal promotion, we are looking to fill a Senior Accountant role specialising in Leases to join our team. Woolworths Finance Shared Services (FSS) is one of the largest in Australia and is in the top 20 best performing FSS globally. This is a hybrid opportunity, ideally based out of our Adelaide office, SA.
This role exists to review, investigate and provide insights on Business Unit Gross Profit (GP) and associated balance sheet accounts. This includes monitoring all profit lines attributing to Gross Profit, preparing/reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and covering the integrity of the inventory valuation.
- Supporting timely and insightful reporting of the Lease accounting result and balance sheet to business unit finance teams
- Drive and lead continuous improvement to add value for our customers
- Ensure reconciliations are prepared and/or reviewed effectively and provide a clear description of outstanding items, have appropriate supporting documentation, provide a conclusion and an action plan for clearance
- Ensure financial controls are in place and reviewed to comply with accounting policies, standards '
- Apply a continuous improvement mindset to our processes and deliverables driving greater efficiency and improved insights.
- Play an active role in our Corporate Governance Program including testing key controls and reporting on deficiencies
- Liaise with stakeholders to call out insights and resolve queries
- Perform User Acceptance Testing for any changes to the System Environment
- Develop and implement process improvements to ensure a standard, lean and efficient operating model
What you'll bring
Your role will require you to synthetise large amounts of data from a variety of sources using advanced analytical and problem solving skills. Your customer centric attitude makes you a valued business partner who has sustainable organisational and customer goals always top of mind. You motivate and inspire a broader audience by communicating complex financial information in a simple and engaging way, using strong presentation and storyboarding skills.
We are looking forward to hearing how you may have demonstrated these capabilities whilst also thinking about these key requirements:
- Finance related degree with a CA or CPA qualification
- Strong experience using financial systems in a commercial environment e.g. Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, macros), Google Suite, SAP, BPC
- Relevant experience, exposure in retail/large corporate will be advantageous
- Experience within property leases will be highly desirable
