Key responsibilities
* Manage property programs and budgets associated with Government Employee Housing including a major property divestment program spanning a number of years as directed by senior management.
* Manage and report on property related transactions including valuations, asset transfers, land tenure issues, native title assessments and subdivisions
* Manage and report on the portfolio's asset valuations as part of the department's requirement to prepare financial statements in line with relevant Australian accounting standards and Queensland Treasury policies.
* Provide a high level of strategic asset management knowledge, leadership and advice to the employee housing team to ensure optimum asset performance over the short, medium and long term - Undertake research and strategic analysis of the portfolio including housing supply and demand, property market trends, feasibility studies and development opportunities and constraints to ensure best practice asset management
* Research and develop written correspondence, briefings, reports and information papers for ministerial and departmental use
* Provide sound policy advice to other agencies, stakeholders and professionals across government and industry in relation to employee housing.
* Represent the Department at senior level intra and inter-departmental meetings and forums.
* Undertake special projects as directed by senior management and contribute actively as a member of the asset management team.
Technical/operational expertise
* Demonstrated involvement in preparing portfolio strategies and plans that improve portfolio performance and service delivery and experience supporting best practice asset management principles within a large and diverse property portfolio.
* Demonstrated success in managing property projects and programs within cost and time constraints and experience in researching and navigating complex property tenures and other property related matters.
* Competent communication skills and demonstrated experience in communicating with managers, staff and external stakeholders on matters relating to property and asset management.
