With significant experience selling off the shelf high-value products and tailored B2B solutions, you have a proven track record in Business Development roles, delivering targets in fast growth companies with a partnering and solution approach to B2B client relationships.

You’re famous for your customer mindset, outstanding problem-solving skills and ability to translate client problems into sales opportunities and solutions! Building external relationships and strategic partnerships are your jam; your success has stemmed from your values-driven style and a strong record of target achievement. 

Ideally, you have knowledge and experience in the enterprise L&D sector or experience working across solution sales in specific industry sectors including digital or other service sectors. You have a strong understanding of activity management and sales methodologies, supported by your analytical mindset with an understanding of measures of performance and sales funnel. 

With a collaborative and nimble working style, you thrive in fast-moving cultures. You can communicate and present to stakeholders of various senior levels and tailor your style accordingly; you’re extremely self-aware and know how to read the room. 

Bonus points for a sense of humour, grace under pressure and a love of digital tech.

The role sits within the Workforce and Industry Partnerships department who is a group of driven and engaged professionals passionate about delivering outcomes for our partners and clients. We are building a growth engine within a scaling digital business, and that’s a great bonding experience. We are all very active on the group chat, sharing weekend photos of our food, adventures and families and we have a nice Friday tradition of sharing our song of the week. We like to think of ourselves as a bunch of inclusive doers, always leaning in to solve problems together. 

Each working week is never the same – but you can be sure you’ll be prospecting in person (and sometimes online) at learning and development or tech skills events, collaborating with learning designers and product folks on bespoke solutions for clients and eating your way through RMIT Online’s lifetime supply of Cheezels!

You might also be developing discovery questions, creating pitches, or crafting proposals for various prospects, in addition to coordinating with our solution design team to develop customized solutions. This role is heavily focused on metrics, and effectively managing your time and attention across all phases of the customer lifecycle is crucial.

In terms of our hybrid ways of working, we have a brilliant flexible work policy - Come to the office as you need to! Most of the team are in 2 days per week (we do enjoy connecting in person, so we tend to see each other in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays) and work around the needs of clients and projects.

Sounds great! Tell me about the role 

Reporting to Sales Manager, you’ll sit in a team consisting of BDMs, Customer Success, Sales Operations and Product Experience & Solutions people. Your role is critical for driving a portion of the growth of RMIT Online's contribution to solving workforce skills gaps. You must love targeted, value-driven prospecting, rallying teams around tailored learning and customer solutions and delivering clarity when closing deals. 

You’ll be responsible for creating and growing new business and sales across our Workforce Development products and solutions. You will focus on helping our business customers shift the dial on their workforce skills gaps. You will drive sales of off-the-shelf products as well as tailored solutions to ensure businesses reskilling or upskilling for their employees to be future-ready.

You’ll be part of the Workforce Development team, a group of highly motivated and passionate Business Development and Customer Success professionals to achieve RMIT Online’s business and revenue growth objectives. This role will deliver new customer revenues to RMIT Online and deliver key insights on workplace learning and development demands and trends to the sales, customer success, learner experience, marketing and product teams. 

You’ll engage with a wide range of key internal and external stakeholders to ensure we convert opportunities for online workforce training identified at RMIT Online. You’ll drive sales of online courses and tailored learning and development solutions that are focused on addressing the skills and talent shortages for employers across Australia. This also involves generating leads through outbound networking and prospecting, as well as managing a pipeline of prospects generated from marketing activities and inbound leads through the RMIT network.  

Working in a hybrid team located in Melbourne, this role is expected to drive sales through both online and face-to-face engagement with customers.
