At ANZ our purpose is to shape a world where people and communities thrive and to achieve this, we need a talented Senior Compliance Manager, Surveillance to join our Institutional Operational Risk & Compliance team. The Institutional Operational Risk & Compliance team sits within Institutional Risk and providing advice to help ANZ deliver a new communications surveillance system for Markets and Group Treasury.

The Senior Compliance Manager, Surveillance is critical to making this happen and will be responsible for advising on requirements to ensure a robust communication surveillance lexicon solution is delivered prior to the system go-live. The role will work closely with Markets Compliance and Markets Surveillance to ensure the communication surveillance lexicon control meets business needs and satisfies relevant global regulatory expectations in respect of monitoring for market misconduct scenarios.
This role would suit an organised and self-motivated individual who would like to join a team of collaborative and experienced compliance professionals.
What a typical day might look like…
- Advise on the design and implementation of the communication surveillance lexicon control to monitor for conduct risk scenarios and ensuring business needs and relevant global regulatory expectations are met
- Testing and calibration of surveillance lexicon scenarios to ensure the solution delivered is tailored for business needs.
- Benchmarking surveillance controls against relevant regulatory guidance and case studies of improper market practices.
- Identify and clearly communicate opportunities to enhance operational risk, compliance and business processes to improve efficiency, effectiveness and achieve improved risk outcomes
- Ensure early identification and active management of significant operational and compliance risks and escalate where treatment plans, remediation activities or timelines are inadequate
- Utilise data to ensure efficient and accurate reporting and insight generation, reducing manual effort where possible
What will you bring?
- Experience with operation of surveillance controls particularly communication surveillance in financial markets
- Experience in a financial markets sales or trading role
- Knowledge of regulatory obligations relating to market misconduct and improper market practices ideally across the global regulatory landscape
- Knowledge of Institutional Markets business activities and processes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain relationships successfully
