ING, Australia’s most recommended bank for the 4th consecutive year is on the hunt for an experienced Senior Data Governance Specialist to join our high performing Data Governance team. As the Bank executes on its business strategy, data will play a pivotal role in enabling the ambitious business outcomes through effective governance, quality management and development of new capabilities with advanced analytics.
This is a newly created role providing the opportunity to support the Data Governance team with the implementation of policies, procedures, standards, and processes for effective data management and ensure the continued use of bank-wide data in alignment with the directive from the Chief Data Officer (CDO).
You’ll be responsible for a wide range of duties to ensure our governance processes are efficient, streamlined and drive consistency and quality of data. You’ll support the Data Office to deliver on ING’s data strategy to uplift data management across the organization, protect the bank and ensure trust in data to build the bank of the future.
The role is a key pillar within the CDO function, further strengthening the Bank’s Data Governance framework, to ensure sustainable data management practices leading to well-defined, consistent, and high-quality data that aligns to our purpose of helping our customers and our employees get ahead in life and in business.
What you’ll do …
- Support the Data Office to deliver the data strategy and uplift the data management practice across ING Bank Australia.
- Manage application and implementation of data policies and process control standards and their continued enforcement across data ownership, data classification, data definitions, data quality, data exchange, master data management and data life cycle management.
- Provide guidance and direction to the data community, to ensure they are effective in the implementation of the data management strategy.
- Drive improvements of the data controls across the data lifecycle and system landscape.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders leveraging knowledge of end-to-end processes to identify and recommend opportunities for control improvements.
- Manage risks and issues relating to data management to ensure compliance with ING’s Non-Financial Risk framework.
- Co-ordinate and facilitate governance forums to provide oversight and governance for key data matters and act as escalation point for critical data risks and issues.
- Build strong relationships with a wide variety of internal stakeholders (including ING Group global counterparts) to help steer the data management strategy across the organization.
- Experience in Data Governance and data management solutions and tooling (Metadata Management, Data Catalogs (IGC, WKC), Data Quality, Reference Data Management, Data Lineage),
- Understanding of key regulations impacting data requirements (e.g., BCBS 239, CPG 235, CPS 230, new IFRS, Solvency II, Consumer Data Right, GDPR)
- 8+ years’ work experience, with at least 4 years in the Financial Services/Banking sector with over 2 years in a role within a control function
- Ability to develop, optimize and troubleshoot complex data management processes, solution, and issues.
- Good knowledge of the Information Management framework, including operating model, data management, data security, data quality and data architecture.
- Proficient in the use of standard systems and tools to manipulate and manage data (MS Excel, MS SQL, Tableau etc.)
- Experience of Azure cloud services will be advantageous.
