This position is classified as a PACS Band 8 ($94,295 - $102,070 p.a) under the City of Kwinana’s structured remuneration system.
About The Role
A rare opportunity exists for a highly motivated and experienced traffic engineer to join our remarkable Engineering Team at the City of Kwinana. Reporting to the Coordinator Engineering Design, this position is responsible for the coordination and delivery of all transport network, and traffic engineering related surveys, investigations, design and drafting works and delivery of traffic management related capital projects.
In this role, you will provide professional, high-quality advice and technical support to external and internal customers on transport network, traffic, and road safety related issues, engaging regularly with all internal staff from various teams. You will interact with consultants, contractors, government agencies, service authorities, general public and other stakeholders to ensure traffic management related investigations and projects are completed in an efficient manner.
A Snapshot of Your New Role:
- Develop, review and deliver transport strategies and plans, including the City’s Cycling and Walking Plan, and Road Safety Management Plan.
- Provide expert technical advice on traffic and transportation engineering to a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Prepare traffic and parking studies, and local area traffic management plans for residential, industrial, and commercial precincts.
- Analyse traffic data and conduct Road Safety Audits on projects to identify and mitigate risks.
- Undertake feasibility studies, concept proposals and designs with public consultation.
- Analyse and resolve complex complaints and enquiries on transport matters, including site inspections and investigation of traffic, bicycle, pedestrian, and parking issues.
- Prepare reports for Council and present at public meetings and Council briefings on traffic and transportation matters.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to engineering team members.
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or equivalent and/or substantial experience in Traffic Engineering.
- Current, valid C class drivers’ licence.
- Sound knowledge and experience in traffic management, road safety investigation, urban/municipal engineering design and evaluation techniques.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards and AustRoads Engineering Guidelines in the field of Traffic Engineering and/or Road Safety.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills and the ability to provide high quality customer service.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively develop and facilitate community consultation processes on traffic related issues.
- Highly developed computer literacy skills and experience in traffic related software.
- Effective report writing and interpreting technical data.
- Proven experience supervising and guiding engineering team members.
