The Branch works collaboratively with central agencies, portfolio entities and internal and external stakeholders on strategic policy, Budget and performance and accountability matters and plays a key role in the provision of advice to our Ministers and the Executive. We do this by ensuring a connected and portfolio-wide approach in our products, services, and advice.
The Branch has a strong focus on collaboration and supporting each other. The Branch is diverse and draws in staff with varying backgrounds including in policy, program management and finance.
At least three roles are available across the Branch, including within the Budget and Strategic Policy Team and within the three External Budget Outcome Teams. Applicants are welcome to specify their interest in a specific role as part of their application.
The key duties of the position include
Working with your Director and team, key responsibilities of a Senior External Budgets Officer (APS6) may include:
- providing advice and support to business areas on the development of new policy proposals (NPPs), costings and costing justifications,
- supporting the management of the portfolio's budget estimates, including analysing, reviewing and managing program estimate and costing models, including maintaining timely and accurate estimates in budget systems (CBMS and TM1),
- supporting the delivery of key budget publications, including the Portfolio Budget Statements and Additional Estimates Statements, including preparation of financial tables,
- assisting in providing technical and strategic advice on budget and financial framework matters to internal and external stakeholders,
- liaising with internal stakeholders, portfolio entities and other agencies on budget matters.
