THE ROLE

Exploration and discovery are core to the IGO DNA. We have a vacancy for a Senior Field Assistant in one of our regional exploration teams on a fixed-term contract. This role will provide daily supervision to a team of Field Assistants in a remote environment ensuring safe and quality execution of drilling and exploration activities. This role is offered on a 15:13 roster FIFO Ex-Perth and may require flexibility to move to different projects and rosters as required.  

Reporting to the Field Supervisor your key accountabilities will include:

• Supervise Field Assistants & Contractors and conduct training & competency assessments as needed;
• Ensure sampling is conducted to a high standard whilst following all safety and quality control procedures;
• Work with and lead a small team in remote and regional locations around Australia;
• Respect and work with Traditional Landowners;
• Coordinate field assets and equipment, conduct routine maintenance, general camp duties;
• Documentation and record keeping, use of GPS, Inreach and Satellite Comms systems, PRONTO; and
• Supervise earthworks, conducting heritage surveys with traditional owners, assist with regional logistics and work with our in-house geophysics team.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

To be successful, you will be a collaborative leader with a strong commitment to workplace safety. You will also have the following:

• Experience across all aspects of field-based work including drilling, heritage, clearing, rehab and community relations;
• Significant leadership experience within a similar role in a remote environment;
• Cert IV Leadership and Management (desirable);
• Ability to work in remote locations on greenfields & brownfields projects with tent, caravan or Transportable style accommodation;
• Awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations;
• Experience in the use of GPS, Inreach and satellite communication systems;
• High Risk Work Licence (Forklift) desirable;
• A current ‘Provide first Aid Certificate’ desirable; and
• Valid ‘C’ class manual drivers’ licence (essential), HR truck licence (desirable).
