About the role
The Senior Financial Accountant – Financial Reporting (SFA) will lead the preparation and formulation of the consolidated annual financial statements, playing a crucial role in the coordination of Barwon Water Group’s external audit process.
The Senior Financial Accountant will also ensure all other financial accounting, including the monthly reporting process, is compliant with accounting standards, while ensuring that controls, processes, and procedures for the function are developed and maintained to the highest standard.
The Senior Financial Accountant ensures the accuracy, transparency, and timeliness of the Group’s financial accounting activities and lends itself those with a strategic mindset who can bring improvements the Group Finance function. The role is also required to work closely with cross-functional teams to contribute to strategic objectives.
About you
You are an experienced, qualified accounting professional, with strong technical knowledge and proven high level understanding of accounting standards, financial statements preparation, and audit processes, with a track record of leading audits and preparing general purpose financial statements.
You are a collaborative leader, able to foster engagement and support a high performing team, enabling our people to develop, while deliver organisational strategic outcomes.
With excellent communication skills, you are adept at providing key advice to Senior Leaders, and Boards. You build strong stakeholder relationships and can influence and motivate others.
Your qualifications in accounting / finance, combined with a professional accreditation as CPA/CA will underpin your success in this role. Knowledge of the Victorian State Government financial reporting frameworks and applications, including the Financial Management Act (1994), Financial Reporting Directions, and Department of Treasury and Finance Guidelines is desirable but not essential.
