Senior Financial Accountant - Ongoing - Full Time
The VCAA is a statutory body responsible to the Victorian Minister for Education, serving both government and non-government schools. We provide high quality curriculum, assessment and reporting for all Victorian students birth to 18 years. An exciting opportunity exists to join the Infrastructure and Business Services Division in the Finance Unit for an ongoing full-time position.
The Senior Financial Accountant serves a critical role within the Finance Team, collaborating closely with the Chief Finance Officer to offer expert financial guidance to senior managers and stakeholders. Acting as a liaison with divisional executives, this position involves gaining an extensive understanding of each division's financial status and resource requirements.
The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for:
* Supervising day-to-day operational tasks of the finance team
* Providing a range of financial and accounting services, including taxation, banking, cash management, debtor management, and fund disbursement
* Providing monthly variance commentary
* Establishing and maintaining financial and accounting policies and controls
* Providing financial advisory support to management and business units
* Generating management reports to ensure robust financial practices
* Managing and upkeeping VCAA accounting and financial systems
* Compiling annual statutory financial statements
* Ensuring compliance with the Financial Management Act 1994, Standing Directions, Financial Reporting Directions, and Australian Accounting Standards.

* Your excellent stakeholder management and communication skills will help you steer, support and deliver successful survey, data, reporting and improvement projects.

* You have a willingness to learn and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
