An exciting opportunity
As a pivotal member of our finance team, the Senior Financial Accountant will be instrumental in assisting the transactional accounting, financial robustness, reporting and analysis including consolidating and preparing all internal and external reporting obligations.
A significant part of the role entails maintaining accounting functions, month-end closing activities, project analysis and adjustments, investigating accounting variances and ensuring accuracies.
You will contribute to continuous improvement, change management and automation of financial processes, maintain controls and support ad-hoc duties as assigned.
This is a permanent full-time role located in Port Macquarie.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in delivery of month-end close process and day to day accounting of multiple entities and review balance sheet reconciliations
- Overseeing cashflow, accounts payable, intercompany loan management and payroll processes
- Assistance and support to team ensuring key monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines are achieved including preparation of consolidated group balance sheet
- Preparation of cashflow forecast, supporting analysis and reconciliations for inclusion in regular finance reporting, including reporting of cash balances and requirements.
- Review and recording foreign currency bank reconciliations.
- Maintaining fixed asset register and integration with maintenance team records
- Handling tax processes including fringe benefits tax, income tax and GST returns.
- Play an active role in the development of financial reporting and projects
- Support the team in reconciliations, providing assistance on various ad hoc projects with hands on processing as needed.
- Support in wider finance projects.
Skills and Experience
- Degree qualified professional, highly motivated and effective team member capable of demonstrating leadership qualities.
- Prior experience in a similar financial focused role is highly regarded.
- Ideally over 4 years' experience in a commercial accounting environment
- Ability to assist in preparation of consolidated P&L and cashflow forecasts, along with other management reports
- Excellent time management skills, shows initiative, with good communication skills, and ability to prioritise tasks
- Able to work well under pressure in a collaborative team environment
- Strong attention to detail and procedural mindset
- Bring expertise in technical aspects of reporting and analysis with advanced excel skills, identification of accounting issues and implementing process improvements
