The primary purpose of the role is to prepare Financials and Apra reporting on a regular basis. Prepare statutory accounts and support the work associated with Tax accounting for Superannuation funds in line with SLA targets and statutory requirements where relevant.
The Fund Accountant plays an important role in supporting the service delivery of the Accounting and Tax team. It encompasses preparation of APRA returns, preparation of monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting, participation in ad-hoc projects as required and the relationship management and liaising with Custodians, investment managers, tax agents as well as the relevant Trustee office.
Some of the awesome things you'll be involved with:
Calculation of the Funds Under Management (FUM) for internal and external stakeholders
Support the preparation and completion of the tax true up process across various funds
Preparation of Investment reconciliations compared to custodian reports and Fund Managers statements for various sub plans and booking investment journals onto the accounting package
Liaise with custodians on all aspects of investment related issues and amounts
Prepare and review management accounts including tax provisions and other accounting reports
Manage various fund accounting-related APRA work papers and forms across Superannuation funds being administered
Prepare and review BAS across various funds.
Organise any quarterly fund accounting-related reports when required
What you will bring:
3-5 years in all aspects of Financial reporting
Experience in preparation of financial reporting
A proven track record in preparing APRA reporting
Practical knowledge in unit pricing
Sound understanding of investment markets and the broader finance industry
Knowledge of tax accounting for superannuation funds and preparation of Income tax returns
Advanced Excel Skills
Bachelor Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting
