Senior Geotechnical Engineer

The Opportunity

KBR have recently been awarded several significant long-term infrastructure projects across Australia, which has created a range of new job opportunities. We are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Infrastructure Services Team, based in Sydney.

You will be responsible for providing technical expertise, designs and support in various Geotechnical Engineering activities related to mid to largescale infrastructure projects. Working closely with our team of civil and structural engineers, your role will involve assisting in geotechnical design and verification tasks, management of subconsultants as well as drafting of memos and reports.

Your ability to collaborate effectively with other disciplines, clients, and project team members within NSW and across offices in Australia will be essential in delivering projects within designated timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise and support in geotechnical design and analysis for infrastructure projects such as rail, roads, and utilities.

  • Assist in managing and overseeing geotechnical aspects of projects, ensuring deliverables meet client expectations and are completed on time and within budget.

  • Conduct geotechnical design and analysis, including foundation design, earthworks, slope stability analysis, and soil-structure interaction analysis.

  • Support project teams by procuring and reviewing geotechnical reports, scoping investigations, and coordinating with subconsultants.

  • Collaborate with other workstreams within KBR, including civil and structural engineers as well as design and project managers, to ensure effective project delivery.

  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in Geotechnical Engineering, actively contributing to the technical capabilities of the team.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Geotechnical Engineering.

  • Strong technical expertise in geotechnical design, including foundation design, earthworks, slope stability and soil-structure interaction analysis.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting delivery requirements and deadlines.

  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Demonstrated time and quality management and organisational skills.

  • A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn and a desire to work in a dynamic team environment.
