Our Kuranda Scenic Railway is such an iconic and unforgettable journey for our customers with spectacular waterfalls and picturesque scenery as you travel through 15 handmade tunnels and across 37 towering bridges whilst receiving exceptional customer service. Our tourism service provides critical connections to family, friends and holiday experiences.
About our Team
As the Senior Guest Services Attendant, you will play an integral role in leading, providing guidance and giving direction to the Guest Service Attendants onboard the iconic Kuranda Scenic Rail.
You will report to the Operation Coordinator Cairns and will join a team that consists of 3 other Senior Guest Services Attendants and 7 Guest Services Attendants. When working on board you will be the Senior Guest Services Attendant in charge and will have up to 5 people reporting to you at any given time in a non-air-conditioned environment.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity which generally works between the hours of 0745 to 1606 or 0855 to 1736 which will include on average every second weekend and some public holidays.

About the role
- Create a memorable customer service experience and ensure the safety and well-being of all is met.
This includes monitoring and addressing any safety concerns and providing first aid when required
- Supervise and monitor the performance of the team and direct accordingly
- Prepare and submit paperwork, forms and reports e.g. incident reports, trip sheets, pre-start briefs etc
- Provide right away signalling for all Kuranda Scenic Railway departs, liaise with traincrew enroute and communicate any abnormal occurrences to the Operations Manager
- Assist with food preparation, cleaning, stocktaking and gift shop sales
We are seeking a resilient, safety orientated and adaptable individual who thrives in a fast-paced and agile environment. Previous experience in a tourism, transport or hospitality industry is highly advantageous but not essential. In addition to this our ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in leading and mentoring a small team with the ability to make decisions in a semi-autonomous environment.
- Exceptional customer focused attitude coupled with strong communication skills to ensure a positive experience
- Hold or be willing to obtain a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.
A Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable but not essential.
