Who we're looking for:
We're looking for a Senior HR/IR Advisor to join our joint venture (JV) project team based on-site in Rockhampton. Ideally, you will live locally in the Rockhampton region.
In this role you will be support the JV project team, and have a focus on employee relations and industrial relations for a large labour force. Reporting to BMD's HR Business Partner - Northern Region, you can expect to be challenged and to celebrate all the successes that hard work will deliver.
The role:
- Provide first point of contact advice on matters relating to the correct application and interpretation of industrial agreements, enterprise agreements, awards, internal policy and related legislation.
- Provide strategic and hands on support to project management on key industrial issues, including liaising with union representatives.
- Assist with the management of project industrial relations activity as required, including liaising with operational personnel to prevent and resolve industrial disputes.
- Identify current and future industrial relations risks/opportunities that may impact operational activity and develop strategies to mitigate risks and leverage opportunities.
- Conduct investigations of employee matters to ensure compliance with applicable industrial instruments, policies, and statutory provisions.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with:
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources / Industrial Relations or related field
- Demonstratable HR/IR experience and experience in the provision of IR advice within the civil construction and engineering sectors, or comparable industries
- Strong knowledge of Fair Work Act and its practical application and Right of Entry legislation and application and related legislation
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally and drive positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels on a major project construction environment
- Demonstrated organisational, planning and coordination skills
- High level of confidentiality and discretion
- Ability to employ initiative and find solutions and prioritise
