We drive workplace change through education, specialist advice and enforcement.As a WorkSafe Senior Inspector Scientific Officer, you will have a vital role in ensuring that workplaces are:

  • adopting appropriate risk management strategies to reduce workplace hazards that can cause multiple and repeat fatalities and serious injuries;
  • working to improve the management of psychosocial hazards;
  • protecting workers from health hazards such as harmful dusts;
  • consulting and involving workers in designing and implementing safe systems of work; and
  • complying with work health and safety laws.
You will undertake complex and sensitive regulatory and technical activities, and will be considered a subject matter expert in the area of Asbestos and provide expert advice to internal and external stakeholders of WorkSafe.With investigative skills and experience in a regulatory, safety or general industry, you will be responsible for:
  • carrying out workplace inspections and taking appropriate enforcement actions when health and safety laws are breached;
  • conducting investigations into workplace incidents or accidents, which may include injuries and fatalities, in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 or equivalent relevant legislation;
  • assessing any possible breaches of relevant safety legislation;
  • gathering evidence and preparing briefs to legal, making recommendations about prosecutions and presenting evidence in court; and
  • promoting and delivering work health and safety presentations, providing information to workplaces.
