ActewAGL’s in-house legal team is seeking a highly organised, collaborative, dynamic lawyer to join its team as a Senior Legal Counsel. Reporting to the Group Manager Legal, the Senior Legal Counsel position is responsible for providing legal services and support on a broad range of issues to ActewAGL Retail, ActewAGL Distribution (including Evoenergy) and their related businesses.
About the role
The Senior Legal Counsel position includes the following responsibilities:
- Provide high quality and timely legal advice in relation to business matters including competition and consumer laws, marketing, utilities and energy legislation, energy distribution and sale, general commercial law, operational contracts and tenders.
- Prepare, or assist in the preparation of, legal documents and correspondence.
- Depending on experience, represent, or assist in arranging representation for, ActewAGL and its related businesses before tribunals, courts or regulatory bodies.
- Liaise with external legal service providers as necessary or required.
- Provide in-house legal training to non-legal staff as necessary or required.
The successful applicant will demonstrate attention to detail and an analytical mindset, analysing and synthesising complex information and issues into meaningful and practical advice.
Our ideal candidate will be customer focused, able to work in a team or independently, familiar with energy and utilities law and have experience in statutory interpretation and drafting contracts and tenders.
