Our Opportunity
This position will direct and manage the on time delivery of Quality Operating Capital projects to Fortescue Operations and provide support to development projects from concept through investigation, approvals, development, commissioning, handover, operation, project review and closure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of Operational CAPEX projects and manage interface with site clients.
- Work with key business stakeholders to define project objectives, scopes and deliverables.
- Recruit, retain and develop Perth Operational Projects team structure and skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Foster a perpetual progression planning approach to the team and business unit.
- Ensure appropriate and consistent quality across all outputs generated by the Operational Projects teams through appropriate internal and external review process.
- Ensure risks associated with all aspects of work are understood, documented and communicated.
- Engage and act as conduit between key internal clients (Project managers, Key Stakeholders in operations and engaged contracting partners) and service providers (Operational Projects, Procurement and Consultants) and engage as necessary with key external stakeholders (DMP, DoW, DEC, Traditional Owners).
- Ensure thorough scheduling, budgeting, cost control and tracking are implemented across all Operational Projects.
- Deliver Operational Projects with defined capability and defined industry best practice performance levels.
- Lead assessment management and tracking of project infrastructure costs (CAPEX and OPEX) and delivery mechanism with view to identifying and implementing savings and schedule advantages.
- Coordinate project and workstream activities. Manage and communicate progress to plan to meet business objectives.
- Interpret and implement Engineering design discipline and specification.
- Contribute to development and communication of Fortescue's Operational Project Management Strategy.
- Foster forums for innovation across all aspects of project team work (Perth and Sites).
- Consider opportunities for infrastructure efficiencies across and between all operations and projects over LOM (Life of Mine).
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor of Engineering (or Equivalent) and/or Project Management Qualification (PMI Accredited or equivalent)
- Significant mining project/program management leadership experience, including high volume/value capital sustaining projects projects and/or significant programs of work
- Experience across contract administration, project engineering and management, with demonstrated project recovery capability
- Proven experience in leading and developing high performing project and operations teams
- Exceptional focus on safety
- Primavera and or equivalent PM software
