Right now, with the recent transformation bringing Intercity Services back with Suburban Services at Sydney Trains it is an exciting time to join!
Joining Sydney Trains' Safety Environment Quality Risk (SEQR) branch will see you lead a high performing team and ensure business partnering via the provision of sound advice and support into a key operating function of Sydney Trains.
As a Leader, you will manage a team to ensure expert SEQR advice and support to varying levels across the Intercity Branch. You're recognised as having exceptional experience in evidence-based advice and support for complex operational environments combined with a strong customer service focus, stakeholder engagement and team collaboration skills.
Your strong leadership skills with the team will enable the business to meet operational requirements, promote compliance with safety management systems, ensure rail safety and regulatory standards are met and improve operational effectiveness.
You will provide strategic and expert input into the development and review of standards, policies, strategiesa and build the capability of the team utilising mentoring, training and peer support methodologies to develop SEQR operational expertise.
This will see you build strong stakeholder relationships , provide quality service delivery and evidence-based advice that effectively manages customer expectations for integrated SEQR support.

About you
You are Tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline and/or have equivalent industry-based experience leading a team in safety management, safety auditing and/or assurance within a complex, high reliability / high risk operating environment.
You are a proven leader with experience in applying contemporary integrated approaches in one or more of safety, environment, quality or risk and have a solid understanding of the application of safety management systems, monitoring and providing insights and analytics with regards to SEQR operational performance.
With the service delivery focus of this role, you will also have a strong customer orientation and strong influencing skills to negotiate a balanced outcome between operational needs and the achievement of a strong safety culture.
Your strong stakeholder engagement skills will see you engage with a broad range of stakeholders, and ideally you will have demonstrated experience in a high reliability, highly unionised environment.
You will also need to be willing to work outside regular working hours and travel across the network as required. A valid Australian motor vehicle driver’s licence is also required.
