he CSA Mine is located 11 kilometres north-west of Cobar, central western New South Wales. At 1.9 kilometres deep, it is one of Australia’s deepest underground mines.
Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, CSA Mine directly employs 500 people including contractors.
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Mine Accountant to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial operations of our mining projects, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all financial processes. Key Responsibilities
- Key member of the team that oversees and manages all accounting functions related to mining operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for cost optimization.
- Collaborate with operational teams to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards.
- Manage the preparation and submission of tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
- Mentor and train junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes to ensure best practices in financial management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, ACA or CMA designation preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the mining industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax regulations specific to the mining sector.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems; experience with SAP is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- High level of integrity and ethical standards.

Located an eight-hour drive to Sydney, nine-hour drive to Melbourne, and a quick three-hour drive to Dubbo, Cobar is a fascinating town rich in mining heritage and natural attractions.
