The Opportunity
We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Operational Specialist - HVDC to join our Operations & Maintenance team in George Town, Tasmania on a full time permanent basis.
Reporting to the Team Leader - HVDC, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the Basslink Interconnector.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all work conducted on, or near, Basslink high voltage electrical apparatus is carried out in accordance with the Basslink Electrical Safety Management Scheme
- Ensure all work conducted is performed in line with the APA Safeguard Management System and site-specific safety procedures
- Ensure all work conducted on the Basslink asset is performed in line with the Operation Environment Management Plan
- Ensure Operations and Maintenance activities are performed in line with the APA Asset Management Plans
- Investigate and report operational faults and events to determine and document the root cause of faults and then implement remedial actions.
- Coordinate work activities and resourcing to ensure effective management of Operations and Maintenance tasks
- Perform High Voltage Operating activities on APA assets
- Undertake preventative maintenance activities
- Participation in budget development and cost control
- Undertake “on-call” duties for up to 18 weeks a year
Essential;
- Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- Experience within either Electrical Heavy Industry, Power Transmission or Power Generation
- Current manual Open Driver's License
- Detailed knowledge of High Voltage, PLC and SCADA systems
- Ability to undertake root cause analysis and repair asset related faults
- Effective time management, planning and prioritisation skills
- Strong Communications skills, capable of developing and maintaining working relationships with external and internal stakeholders
- Collaborative Team participation with demonstrated ability to contribute to the total effectiveness of a team
- High level of computer literacy with demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office together with the skills to learn “non-generic” software programs (i.e. Digsi and Simatic TDC)
- Demonstrated ability to maintain productivity and effectiveness in a challenging environment
- Be Nimble and prepared to undertake a wide range of activities to support the operation of the team
- Electrical Trade Qualification
- Tertiary qualification in electrical or control systems
- Certificate IV in Leadership
The Tasmania/Victoria Operations and Maintenance team manage the Basslink Interconnector to ensure its safe and reliable operation. We are a collaborative team that strongly care about the success of both individual team members and the asset.
