Primary Purpose:
- Provide high-level operational advice to the director on matters relating to incident and emergency management.
- Develop, lead and manage operational workforce planning and recruitment strategies and programs for staff and volunteers, including attraction and retention.
- Support the State Duty Commanders and the Director State Operations in the delivery of effective leadership of operational staff.
- Manage projects on behalf of Director State Operations to make improvements the delivery of legislative responsibilities of the CFS.
- Effectively lead and manage central reserve brigades.
- Proactively manage and coordinate control facilities and teams.
- Develop, implement, and monitor the CFS commands structure in the ability to delivery control functions on behalf of the CFS.
- Manage Work Health Safety matters including those relating to fatigue across the agency command structure.
- Support the State Duty Commanders to develop, lead and implement efficient management processes and coordination of responses to complex emergency incidents.
- Provide expert advice to State Duty Commanders to ensure effective and appropriate use of resources (including personnel, equipment and material) in the delivery of emergency response services to the community including sustainability measures.
- Work with agency SCC managers to lead and develop improvements to the SCC on behalf of the sector.
- Lead major projects/programs of work focused on the delivery of state operations.
- Support the Deputy Chief Officer and Director State Operations to homogenise SCC rosters and formalise training and development for current and future staff.
- Develop and lead operational exercises for the State Command and Regional Command Centres on a rotating schedule.
- Lead the development of senior operational training and assessment.
- Activity contribute and manage the on-call operation roster for the state.
- Develop a proactive approach and culture of continuously reviewing and improving operations, planning, policies, services, and programs.
- Identify, influence, and lead key stakeholders and advocates to promote the implementation of change initiatives that ensure continuous improvement outcomes.
- Reconcile priority needs against available resources and opportunities by ensuring the delivery of services within allocated resources.
- Provide strategic leadership regarding the development and delivery of data/information systems to support reporting of service activity, benchmarking, and key performance data at local, state, and national levels.

$106,512 - $115,137
