About the Role:

As the Operations Manager at Allied Finishes, you will play a critical leadership role in driving operational excellence and contributing to the overall success of the company. You will oversee all facets of project management, subcontractor coordination, procurement, process improvement, and team management within our Operations division. You will have proven experience in project management, preferably in the construction or related industry, to effectively manage subcontractor contracts and procurement processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring Project Success: You will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of projects, prioritising timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
  • Optimising Operational Efficiency: Your role involves balancing the need for efficient project delivery while maintaining high-quality standards across all operations.
  • Driving Continuous Improvement: You will lead efforts to develop more breadth and depth within the Operations/Projects team, ensuring growth without compromising quality. Additionally, you will implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and minimise disruption to ongoing operations.
  • Effective Team Management: Leading a diverse team, including project managers, you will provide guidance and support to foster a positive work environment and ensure alignment with company objectives.

Key Challenges:

  • Developing Team Capacity: You will need to develop the skills and capabilities of the Operations/Projects team to accommodate growth without sacrificing quality.
  • Maintaining Quality Standards: Balancing efficient project delivery with maintaining high-quality standards will be essential to meet customer expectations.
  • Managing Multiple Projects: You will oversee multiple projects and subcontractors simultaneously, requiring clear communication and coordination to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Negotiating Cost Savings: Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve cost savings without compromising quality will be a key challenge in your role.
  • Implementing Process Improvements: You will need to implement process improvements while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations, requiring careful planning and execution.

Additional Responsibilities:
In addition to the key responsibilities outlined above, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies, collaborating with other departments to support business objectives, participating in strategic planning and decision-making processes, staying informed about industry trends and best practices, and representing the company in meetings with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.

Who We Are Looking For:
Our ideal candidate will have strong leadership and team management skills to lead a diverse team within the Operations division. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities are required to coordinate with staff, subcontractors, and suppliers. An analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, including experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma, is highly valued. You will have an understanding of health and safety regulations in the construction industry and possess a solid grasp of fundamental business financial elements, including gross profit, and how they impact project outcomes. Adaptability is key, as the role requires thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while effectively managing competing priorities. Familiarity with relevant software tools such as project management software and procurement systems is advantageous.
