The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join our collaborative payroll team and play a key role in the end to end payroll process. You will work closely with the Payroll Manager to assist in leading the efficient operation of the payroll team.
You will provide coaching, advice, and support to our Payroll Officers on various payroll and systems matters, whilst supporting internal and external stakeholders. You will lead regular payroll reporting, and streamlining systems and process, by ensuring payroll compliance with our modern awards and Enterprise Agreements and all other legal statutory obligations.
Together with the broader HR team you will support best practice business processes and play an integral role in delivering our vision of 'Connecting People to Business Success.' This is a role where your excellence in customer service, and ability to explain and apply policies and procedures whilst displaying tact, diplomacy and assertiveness will be key to success.
While this role is initially based in Murdoch, please note that our Murdoch office will be relocating to Perth CBD in late 2025.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Processing weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time.
- Prepare, balance and reconcile payroll tax, PAYG, super and other deductions.
- Responding to customer queries and providing efficient and accurate expert advice.
- Seeking improvement opportunities in payroll processes and efficiency of systems.
- Maintaining the HR / Payroll systems databases to ensure data integrity.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and statutory reporting requirements.
- Involvement in annual remuneration tasks, system upgrades and ad hoc project work as required.
- Seek to continuously improve the efficiency of the payroll function across our processes, systems and practice.
About You
You thrive in a busy payroll environment and are adept in managing regular deadlines. You are proud to contribute your end to end payroll experience with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy. In addition you possess:
- Demonstrated experience using Chris21 system - mandatory.
- Advanced knowledge of relevant employment and statutory legislation (for example, award interpretation, withholding tax, payroll tax, PAYG).
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure whilst providing high level support to the team.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent customer service and strong communication skills.
