About the role
Responsible for the development of key infrastructure, energy and telecommunications policy to support economic development and business growth across NSW by:
You will be responsive for developing recommendations aimed at improving the pace of infrastructure delivery in regional NSW and future priorities across NSW. You will identify and advocate for the design of procurement process in support of small to medium sized business enterprise participation in state significant infrastructure.

Main responsibilities include:
- Supporting the policy and advocacy division, Sydney First, Illawarra First, Hunter First and Regional Directors in advocacy around Business NSW priorities.
- Produce succinct, well-argued and persuasive policy advocacy positions, analysis and advice.
- Produce impactful thought leadership to build case for change in key policy areas
- Develop submissions to governmental, parliamentary and regulatory consultation processes.
- Represent the interests of NSW businesses in key energy and infrastructure stakeholder forums.
- Develop and communicate high quality and timely policy advocacy briefings, analysis and recommendations to the NSW Business Chamber executive, Policy Committees, ACCI, RACs, staff and Council.
- Persuasively represent the NSW Business Chamber at high level Ministerial, Departmental, Parliamentary, and business leader briefings and meetings.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with a network of key government, business and subject matter expert stakeholders.
- Provide the above services primarily in the areas of Infrastructure and Energy policy.
- Represent NSW Business Chamber as nominated director of Industry Capability Network (ICN) NSW
- Provide information to commercial and supporting business units on opportunities arising from Government and private investment that may be of interest to business units of the NSW Business Chamber.
- Share observations and insights with other areas of policy focus including the areas of regulation, education and skills and workplace health and safety.
- Monitor developments in the policy environment and convert member concerns into advocacy positions for Government and stakeholders.
- Advise on and support implementation of NSW Business Chamber’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategyProvide secretariat support for the organisation’s Infrastructure Committee
To be Successful in this role, you will:
- Highly developed ability to analyse policy issues and recommend advocacy positions relevant to NSW Business Chamber and its members
- Highly developed, persuasive written and verbal communication skills including a strong command of grammatically correct language and ability to tailor communication to different audiences
- Understanding of, and preferably, experience gained, in policy issues related to energy.
- Strong understanding of the state and national business policy environment,
- Capacity to work independently in identifying and analysing issues and suggesting advocacy positions
- Excellent personal organisation skills and ability to prioritise and meet deadlines with agreed resources
- Tertiary qualifications in business, law, public policy, economics or other relevant discipline
- Understanding and experience in engaging in the legislative policy process
- Demonstrated capacity to establish, manage and influence a network of stakeholders including Government representatives
