The Department of Communities brings together the services and functions of disability services, child protection and family support, housing, community initiatives and regional services reform.
About the Team
The Western Australian (WA) disability landscape continues to change rapidly and the Office of Disability, within the Department of Communities, is responsible for advancing and coordinating strategic disability reforms to maximise the benefit for people with disability, families, carers, the disability sector and the WA Government.
The Office of Disability provides strategic leadership, advice and advocacy to inform and influence government and the WA community to transform and enable people with disability to enjoy full citizenship.
Disability interfaces occur across people of any age, who can require episodic or lifetime interactions that intersect across all areas of government and the community; hence, the Office of Disability must interface with multiple agencies to foster access and inclusion to enable people with disability to participate fully in their community.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Program and Policy Officer, you will play a key role in driving work and innovation to advance inclusion and participation of people with disability in Western Australia.
This is an exciting and fulfilling role, where you will coordinate the implementation of strategic projects that will positively impact the WA community, such as 'A Western Australia for Everyone' State Disability Strategy 2020-2030 and Australia's Disability Strategy 2021 - 2031’.
This role will have a significant external focus, where you will use your effective stakeholder engagement and co-design skills, and you will be involved in the development of policy, reports, briefings and correspondence.
There is currently one (1) permanent position available for immediate filling.
The successful applicant or applicants assessed as suitable through this process may receive further offers of employment in this or similar roles.
