The Senior Ranger is accountable and responsible for coordinating and assisting in the delivery of the functions of the Ranger team within the Park Services section. The Senior Ranger has primary responsibility for building, supporting and supervising a small team in delivering regulatory compliance (education and enforcement) and visitor and wildlife incident response.
The Senior Ranger facilitates support for park infrastructure construction and maintenance works, visitor risk management, nature conservation activities, wildlife management and heritage works within the EHP division.
The successful applicant will be expected to reside on Rottnest Island for an initial period of up to 5 years. Residency is not a requirement or condition of employment and is at RIA's absolute discretion.
The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current Working With Children Check and a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
Selection Criteria * Highly developed interpersonal skills, with proven community liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills in conjunction with a strong customer focus and the ability to negotiate positive outcomes.
- Considerable experience and knowledge of implementing operational and project plans and works programs associated with visitor services and natural resource management.
- Demonstrated experience of leadership, supervisory, team management, works program planning and human resource manageent skills.
- Considerable experience in conducting statutory compliance activities including education and enforcement.
