RNPGA, Grade 3, $77,950 - $81,682 p.a. plus 25% No Fixed Hours Allowance plus 11% Superannuation
The Houtman Abrolhos Islands National Park was created in July 2019. An abundance of wildlife, spectacular scenic landscapes and a rich maritime heritage, all surrounded by crystal clear waters and tropical coral are just some of the reasons attracting visitors.

Job Description
Under the direction of the Senior Operations Officer (Houtman Abrolhos Islands National Park):

  • Manages the day to day works programs and operations within the Houtman Abrolhos Islands National Park.
  • Undertakes compliance patrols.
  • Responsible for skippering, maintaining and managing departmental vessels.
  • Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of remote operations base and associated infrastructure.
Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than four (4) pages in total. * Experience in leading, supervising and managing teams, empowering individuals to work with confidence both in teams and independently to deliver agreed outcomes and priorities, with particular emphasis on the development, management and supervision of park-specific projects.
  • Evidence of well-developed oral and interpersonal skills and experience in building and maintaining networks; liaising with the public, commercial tourism operators, community groups, special interest groups and other stakeholders.
  • Experience and knowledge of implementing operational plans and works programs associated with visitor management and natural resource management including an awareness of the principles and practices of Visitor Risk Management.
  • Considerable knowledge and broad experience in (certified documented evidence) operating on and/or acting as Master and Chief Engineer on large vessels (over 12m) offshore and holds Certificates of Competency – Master less than 24 meters near coastal and Marine Engine Driver Grade 2 or higher boating qualification, including the delivery of periodic, scheduled and preventative maintenance.
Note: The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current (issue date not older than 6 months) and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.
AND
The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current Working With Children Check card prior to commencement.
