An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Senior Ranger here at the City of Mandurah. In this role you will play an important mentoring and leadership role within the Ranger Services team.

The requirements of the position include the following:

  • Undertake the critical functions as a Ranger educating the community and enacting provisions of relevant Acts, Regulations, local laws and policies
  • Provide technical advice to Ranger staff in relation to the enacting of relevant Acts, Regulations, local laws, policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership within the Ranger Services team with regard to business improvement, creativity and strategic support utilising learning from inside and outside the organisation.
  • Consult with the Coordinator of Ranger Services on the implementation of business improvement opportunities considerate of practical implementation.
  • Identify training opportunities for Rangers to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Communicate messages and decisions to Rangers from the Coordinator of Rangers Services to encourage a safe and consistent approach within the team.
  • Ensure employment agreements, Work, Health and Safety and EEO legislation are administered and observed within the level of accountability for this position
  • Discount or waive fees for the impoundment of animals.
  • Discount of waive fees for the registration of animals. Exercise initiative and/or judgement within clearly established procedures and guidelines
  • Be available for after hours actions in accordance with the City’s on call arrangements.

To be successful you will have:

  • Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services)
  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional written and investigative skills
  • Experience in animal handling and husbandry skills
  • Minimum 3 years experience employed as a local government Ranger
  • Sound knowledge of ranger practices and procedures, relevant statutory legislation and local laws
  • A current unrestricted C class (manual) driver’s licence
  • Experience operating 4WD vehicles
  • Computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office products
  • A police clearance certificate (less than 6 months old)
  • Senior First Aid
  • Applicants must be aged 18 years or above

This Level 5 position attracts an annual salary from $87,623 to $93,338 with additional penalties and loading in accordance with the City’s Enterprise Agreement.
