THE OPPORTUNITY
A short 30-minute drive from Brisbane, our vast, heritage-listed campus is conveniently located in the middle of Ipswich. We offer the opportunities of a large city, with the quiet feel of a smaller town.
We are now seeking a passionate science focused self-starter who can provide customer-centric, practical, and administrative support services to the Science Department including Laboratory Technicians, teaching staff and student cohort. This is a busy part-time (12hrs per week – Thursday and Friday), term-time role where you will provide laboratory and administrative assistance as well as supporting the Occupational Health and Safety requirements to ensure that student practical lessons are conducted safely.
Reporting to the Head of Science, and supporting the Laboratory Technicians, the ideal candidate will have tertiary qualifications in a Science or equivalent field with an understanding and capacity to support the requirements of the School Science Labs. This role may suit a student who is part-way through their studies, a recent graduate or a candidate with some experience who may be seeking family friendly work hours.
Due to operational nature of this role, current hours will be Thursday and Friday during School hours, with some flexibility to change days to suit the needs of the Department.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate initiative, excellent problem-solving skills, effective teamwork, and a commitment to good customer service, as well as having:
- Tertiary qualifications in Science, a Science-related degree or equivalent, or Laboratory Assistant qualifications OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Proactive, well organised, time management and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and find solutions for unexpected situations, as well as anticipate problems that may arise in future.
- High level oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate at all levels within the School.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision, prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
- Attention to detail, and the ability to respond efficiently to competing demands.
- Eligibility to work in Australia and be a holder of, or can obtain, a Working with Children Suitability Card (Blue Card).
