Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) is responsible for providing primary and secondary health care for people living in the Auburn, Blacktown, and The Hills Shire, Holroyd and Parramatta Local Government Areas (LGAs) and tertiary care to residents of the Greater Western Region. What you'll be doing

Therapy for Kids & Families (TKF) is a specialist Children’s mental health service with teams located at 3 sites across WSLHD including Auburn, Westmead and Mt Druitt. The aim is to provide a comprehensive and specialist Community-based Mental Health services to children aged up to 12 years and their families. This includes assessment and management of children with complex emotional and behavioural problems within the context of their families.  
 
The Senior Social Worker is a part of a multi-disciplinary team which offers a broad range of systemic interventions to children and families. This will involve direct therapeutic and psychiatric interventions with the child and family,  coordinating and consulting to internal and external key stakeholders including Department of Education and Department of Community and Justice and developing comprehensive treatment plans in collaboration with families.

Essential Requirements: 

  • Qualifications/ Membership :  Bachelor Degree in Social Work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)

Selection Criteria: 

  1. Bachelor Degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the AASW
  2. Extensive experience in working therapeutically with children and families who present with significant emotional, behavioural, and/or mental health difficulties
  3. Demonstrated evidence based skills in the assessment and treatment of children and their families presenting with complex mental health issues in a developmental framework
  4. Specialist knowledge in areas such as trauma, attachment, systemic interventions including experience in providing family therapy
  5. Demonstrated ability to provide consultation, supervision and training to other professionals including more junior health staff and students
  6. Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and ability to build therapeutic relationships
  7. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and with other service providers to achieve optimal outcomes for children and families
  8. Current valid NSW drivers licence and willingness to use it for work purposes
