About the Opportunity
The primary purpose of the Senior Solicitor - Native Title is to provide high quality legal advice and representation on highly complex and sensitive Native Title matters, including claims in the Federal Court of Australia for recognition of, and compensation for the extinguishment of, Native Title under the Native Title Act.
The Senior Solicitor – Native Title provides leadership and supervision to junior legal officers. Extensive experience in identification and assessment of highly complex legal issues is essential. Experience in the preparation and conduct of complex, multi-party litigation, as well as Aboriginal issues and administrative and/or public law is highly desirable.

The Crown Solicitor's Office, through the Attorney-General, provides legal services to government, Ministers, agencies and departments, including legal advice, representation before courts and tribunals, negotiating commercial contracts, drafting and production of legal documents, counsel for the conduct of summary prosecutions and Magistrates' appeals, Native Title claim management, land conveyancing and investigation.

Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
Some interstate and intrastate travel may be required.
Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C).
Must currently possess or be eligible to obtain an unrestricted practicing certificate within South Australia.
