About the Opportunity
The Environment & Planning Group (EPG) within the Crown Solicitor's Office, is responsible for providing high quality legal advice to and representation of government in the areas of planning law, environment protection, climate change, water, native vegetation, fisheries, energy and mining and others. The diverse range of work includes statutory construction and general advice on a range of legislation, as well as representation of the state in administrative appeals, prosecutions and judicial reviews.
Multiple roles are available across the range of LEC1 to LEC5, depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidates. Senior Solicitors at the LEC4 and LEC5 range will be responsible for supervising junior solicitors and working independently on complex and sensitive matters.
About the Business
The Crown Solicitor's Office (CSO), through the Attorney-General, provides legal services to government, Ministers, agencies and departments, including legal advice, representation before courts and tribunals, negotiating commercial contracts, drafting and production of legal documents, counsel for the conduct of summary prosecutions and Magistrates' appeals, native title claim management, land conveyancing and investigation.

Special Conditions for Employment
Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
Must hold a current Australian issued driver’s licence (equivalent to minimum class C)
Must currently possess or be eligible to obtain a practising certificate within South Australia. For Senior Solicitors (LEC4 – LEC5), must possess or be eligible to obtain an unrestricted practicing certificate.
