The opportunity
Southside Racing is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to assume the role of Senior Sous Chef at our Hospitality and Entertainment Venue, Cardinia Club. Reporting to the Head Chef, the role of Senior Sous Chef will be to work closely with the Head Chef to monitor the performance of our Kitchen and be key contributor to the success of the Clubs hospitality venue.
The Senior Sous Chef will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in managing the kitchen operations, supervising the kitchen staff, and ensuring the quality and consistency of the food served. The ideal candidate should have a passion for cooking, excellent leadership skills, and a strong understanding of kitchen operations. The role is full time & involves variety of shifts 7 days a week to meet the needs of the business. The Senior Sous Chef will assist with and perform all cooking and supervisory duties to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the kitchen while delivering an exceptionally high standard of food, customer service to members, guests and visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Chef in managing the kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and inventory management
- Supervise and train the kitchen staff, ensuring that they adhere to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene
- Ensure the quality and consistency of the food served, and make adjustments as necessary to meet customer expectations
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and specials, and ensure that they are executed to perfection
- Manage the kitchen budget, including food and labor costs, and make recommendations for cost-saving measures
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, and ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and serviced
- Assist with catering and special events as needed
Qualifications:
- Experience leading a successful kitchen operation
- Trade certificate in Commercial Cooking or equivalent
- Able to identify & provide solutions of high standards aimed at addressing customer needs
- Able to effectively engage, control & maintain processes, people & tasks
- Demonstrable experience in motivating and managing individuals and teams in various scenarios / industry groups
- Able to remain effective when faced with changing tasks, responsibilities or people
