Senior Supervisor

Senior Supervisor required for upcoming civil projects in the Bowen Basin on a coal mine site.

Your new company 

An international mining house that is at the forefront of the extraction of coal is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Supervisor to provide leadership to the project team through engagement, safety, resolution and communication. 

Your new role 

Reporting to the Coordinator, you will oversee the contractor workforce in the delivery of a broad range of capital projects at site, ensuring projects are delivered safely to requirements. 
In your role as Senior Supervisor you will:

• Contribute to the construction strategy and project execution plan by identifying the optimal sequence of construction for the project 

• Participate in the development of specific construction deliverables (plans, specifications and procedures) as directed by the construction manager 

• Coordinate and review Contractor construction activities including schedule, budget, deliverables and safety performance ensuring compliance with owner standards and processes 

• Provide construction expertise as input to value improvement practices for the development of construction related deliverables, including participation in constructability activities and engineering design reviews 

• Manage an area or discipline on the construction site on a day to day basis ensuring the construction team performs their role in line with site expectations 

• Act as a “point of contact” between the Implementation Contractor and the existing operating facilities to ensure minimal disruption to both Operations and construction activities 

• Coordinate execution of construction risk and quality management plans to assure effective management of the project’s construction scope of work 

• Monitor project/program progress, so that any deviations that may impact the construction activities can be managed and the effects minimised 

• Collaborate on the process of handover between the functions that interface with the Construction process – Engineering, Projects Contracts & Procurement, Commissioning and Operations 

• Lead, coach and mentor team members to ensure delivery against performance targets 

• Integrate and apply internal lessons learned and external best practices across the project with identified opportunities for improvements in project management, increased capital efficiency and productivity 

What you'll need to succeed 

To be successful you will ideally have the following skill set: 

• A background in Civil and/or Construction trades or equivalent including knowledge of bulk earthworks 

• The ability to work in a QLD Coal Mine (S11, medical) 

• QLD Coal Supervisor course (S1, S2, S3) 

• RIIRIS402D Facilitate Risk Management (G2) 

• A high level of written and verbal communication 

• Proficient user of MS Office software inc. Word, Outlook, Excel

This is an excellent opportunity with a roster that has some flexibility around project requirements. Candidates can be local to the Bowen Basin region or DIDO or FIFO from Brisbane. Start date is flexible depending on candidates current employment if need be.
