Mandatory requirements
* One of the referees should be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, where possible, who can attest to the applicant's background, knowledge, skills and experience as they relate to the cultural capabilities.
* Drivers' license: it is a mandatory requirement for the occupant of this position to hold an unrestricted "c" class driver's licence as officers are required to drive government vehicles as a part of their day-to-day work.
* Blue card: this role provides support services to children and young people and therefore will require a valid Blue Card with the organisation. Please refer to the Blue Card Services website (http://www.bluecard.qld.gov.au/) for further information.
As Senior Transition Officer, you will specifically:
* Work effectively to plan, coordinate, promote, generate referrals, manage referrals, and deliver intensive transition group programs for young people with complex needs and who may be subject to statutory orders in accordance with relevant departmental policies, practice standards, and procedures.
* Supervise or assist in the supervision of a team of multidisciplinary staff to ensure the delivery of high quality client intervention and referral services in accordance with relevant departmental policies, practice standards and procedures.
* Maintain knowledge of contemporary trends, practices, funding initiatives and service delivery options to ensure the delivery of best practice youth justice programs and services, and assist in identifying trends and issues in client service delivery and evaluating client outcomes, including performance reporting, to ensure continuous improvement.
* Create and foster collaborative, professional relationships with key stakeholders including relevant internal and external stakeholders to: o promote effective coordination, integration and delivery of high quality intensive group and individual programs and activities for young people on youth justice orders and young people at risk of entering the justice system. External stakeholders may include but are not limited to Education, Registered Training Organisations, Child safety, not-for-profits, and business sectors. o establish effective transition pathways for participants including establishing an understanding of opportunities for youth employment in the local area, youth employment incentives, and links to other education programs and further training.
* Participate as a member of the youth justice service centre management team and contribute to strategic and operational planning, reviews and key decision-making, in addition to actively participating in and contributing to the good governance and objectives of the T2S State-Wide team and Transitions Services directorate.
* Promote the accomplishments of young people, the department, and community through written and verbal communication channels to support the ongoing delivery of the program.
* Establish and maintain recording and reporting systems in accordance with legislation and departmental policies and procedures to ensure efficient and accountable management and delivery of youth justice programs.
* Where applicable provide ongoing recruitment, selection, professional development and culturally appropriate supervision and leadership to program staff
* Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety legislation and maintain regular audits to ensure compliance is maintained. Ensure that safety equipment is available and all equipment used in conjunction with the T2S program is safe to operate.
