Shipping/ Boarding Operations Officer - Newcastle

We're looking for a Shipping/Boarding Operations Officer to join our company at our office in Newcastle, NSW.

Monson has 19 locations across Australia with offices strategically positioned in New Zealand, Singapore, China, throughout South East Asia and a Centre of Excellence in Manila.

This role reports to our Branch Manager in Newcastle and is responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:

• Attending to bulk vessels in the Port of Newcastle and surrounds
• Control and reporting of vessel movements within the port
• Ensuring customs and Port Shipping Terminal requirements are met
• Data entry and maintenance of vessel files, including inputting, updating, and maintaining relevant information in our internal databases
• Liaison with overseas and local principles on a daily basis
• Attending to general customer enquiries
• Provide support for other offices or locations upon request

This role requires some weekends and out-of-hours work on a roster basis which is customary for the industry. 

• Industry knowledge and experience within the shipping industry is strongly preferred, however on the job training is also provided
• Good MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills
• Good communication skills with a focus on customer service and building strong relationships with key stakeholders within the business
• Reliable team player and ability to work autonomously
• Currently holds (or is eligible to obtain) a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)
• Valid C-Class Driver's Licence with no restrictions
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and the willingness to comply with State Government and Australian Health Advice
• Permanent work rights with no restrictions
