Site Contamination Management Officer

  • Salary Range Band 7 $104,946 – $117,440 per annum pro rata plus 11% super 
  • Permanent Part Time, 3 days per week

What’s the role all about 

Are you a passionate and driven environmental specialist with expertise in Site Contamination Management looking to contribute to the successful delivery of a large range of projects that will benefit our community? 

Ideally this role would suit a pro-active and solutions focused individual experienced in carrying out assessments of soil to identify contamination, the ability to interpret technical contamination reports and provide sound advice to the organisation on contamination issues. The role will also suit a strategic thinker that is able to develop policy to set the direction of Site Contamination issues going forward and be flexible to adapt approaches.

What you might do   

  • Lead the development of the new Site Contamination Management Policy
  • Assist project managers with Site Contamination challenges and provide sound advice to deliver projects
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external authorities 

Who we are looking for 

  • You will hold a Tertiary degree in a relevant environment-related discipline (e.g environmental engineering, soil science, hydrogeology, environmental management or similar
  • Be eligible for membership or certification by relevant industry technical scheme, e.g. EIANZ (Environment Institute of Australia & NZ), SSA (Soil Science Australia), IAH (International Association of Hydrogeologists), Engineers Australia, ACTRA (Australasian College of Toxicology & Risk Assessment). 
  •  Experience in carrying out assessments of soil to identify contamination, and ability to interpret technical reports from consultants relating to Site Contamination.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and guidelines relating to contaminated land, and experience in ensuring organisational compliance to these.

  • Complete a National Police Check completed via City of Port Phillip’s Provider. 
  • Evidence of a Working with Children Check (employee type with City of Port Phillip registered as the organisation).
